SBTV.com Selected as International Leader in Organizational Democracy
St. Louis, MO (April 22, 2009)– SBTV.com-Small Business Television, the Internet’s first television network focused on providing information to the nation’s small businesses, is being recognized as a top business in the 2009 WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces. The small business portal is one of only 40 companies named to the annual list sponsored by WorldBlu, an Austin-based nonprofit specializing in organizational democracy.
"SBTV.com is honored to be recognized as one of the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces," said Susan Wilson Solovic, CEO of SBTV.com. "SBTV.com strives to get input from our team of employees and give them a voice in our process as we serve entrepreneurs and small business owners,” Solovic added.
As part of the 2009 WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces’ application process, SBTV.com employees completed a survey evaluating the company's practice of 10 democratic principles, such as "transparency, dialogue and listening, integrity, accountability and choice on a leadership, individual, and systems and processes level." WorldBlu developed the survey tool based on a decade of research into what makes a world-class democratic organization.
SBTV.com is among private and non-profit organizations from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, India, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Malaysia on the list from technology, healthcare, telecommunications, media, manufacturing, aerospace and retail industries, representing nearly $12 billion in combined annual sales.
